Science scholarships are a way of encouraging science students to do more research and findings about the happenings in our environment and encourage sophisticated findings as regards to health development of hospital equipment discoveries and exploration of things that will help to enhance the world at large. If you are a science student, like a student who is majoring in any science-related course, there are thousands of Science scholarships available for you in 2024.

For the world to remain scientifically accurate in a global economy,  its obvious that we need more graduates with degrees in science.

As a result, everybody from private platforms to government platforms has begun offering science scholarships and grants.

Some of the science scholarships and awards can get quite very large, each of which carries a very top prize of up to $100,000.

Math and Science Scholarship Fund 2024

Brief Scholarship Data

Interested students can only receive only one scholarship in a single year from TGKVF. The winner will be notified by TGKVF by May 15th. The sponsor will send the full amount of the scholarship money in August. It is valid for the whole academic year. The check is to be paid jointly to the recipient account and the college but is sent directly to the recipient of the award. Any student who drops out of school for a reason best known to them will be expected to let the foundation know of his/her status and refund unused funds,  ie the refundable portion of the science scholarship award in 2024.

Eligible Study Level/Field

Undergraduate Students who are pursuing a major in math, pure science or any engineering course at any accredited college or university (science shall include chemistry, physics, biology and other scientific fields).

Eligible Group

The Scholarship is open to students who are Citizens of the United States of America

General Eligibility Requirements

  • Applicant should be a regular student, with 12 credit hours or more.
  • Must be a high school senior or older to apply for this undergraduate award.
  • Must be a resident of West Virginia to be eligible for this Science Scholarship.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Applicants must be pursuing a major in math, pure science or any engineering course at any accredited college or university (science shall include chemistry, physics, biology and other scientific fields).
  • Must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher to be eligible for this science Scholarship.
  • Must obtain an ACT of 20 or higher.
  • This Science Scholarship is for U.S. students.

Scholarship Benefits

$1,800 annually, on average. The award is renewable for up to three years if the student continues to meet the eligibility requirements. The student must reapply to be considered for renewability.

Recipients

The number of awards varies annually. Last year 11 awards were offered. *Please note: Historically, this fund receives approximately 50 applicants each year.

Application Guidelines

Applications are available online on The Greater Kanawha Valley Foundation Website (TGKVF). *Please note: Applications are only accepted through online submission. The entire application does not have to be completed at one time. Students will create a password so that they may return to complete the application at a later time. In addition to the application form, the student must submit his/her most recent federal income tax return and grade transcript online.

These documents must be scanned and then attached to the application. Students may apply for up to two Greater Kanawha Valley Foundation scholarships using one application. The application and additional documents must be received by the deadline date.

The deadline for the application has not yet been decided for this year, but is expected to remain the same as in other years. Please check back in November when applications are expected to become available.

GCA Award in Coastal Wetlands Studies

Brief Scholarship Data

The Garden Club of America provides this award in coastal wetland studies. The goal of the Garden Club is to promote wetlands conservation through the support of young scientists in their fieldwork and research. All applications are reviewed by a selection committee of practising wetland scientists. Selection criteria include the technical merit of the proposed work and the degree to which the work is relevant to the Garden Club’s objective of promoting wetlands conservation. The selection committee forwards its selections to the Garden Club of America by the end of February. The Garden Club makes final decisions regarding the number of Science Scholarship awards to be made each year and officially notifies the award recipients. All applicants are typically notified of the selection process outcome in early April.

General Eligibility Requirements

Must be conducting research in wetlands and have a particular ongoing wetlands-related project. Please note: Although non-coastal wetlands research is eligible and will be considered, there is a preference for research in coastal wetlands that occurs within the United States. For the reason of this particular scholarship, coastal wetlands are defined as those tidal or nontidal wetlands found within coastal states, including the Great Lakes.

Must be enrolled in a graduate program at the time of application.

This award is for international and U.S. students.

Scholarship Benefits

$5,000 annually, non-renewable.

Four Science Scholarship awards are offered annually.

Application Guidelines

Award information is available online from the Center for Coastal Resources Management (CCRM) website. There is no application form for this award; the student will be considered by submitting the appropriate materials listed on the CCRM website.

To apply for this award, the student must submit a resume or curriculum vitae, a statement of work, and a letter of endorsement from his/her major adviser. The vita must contain the following information: student’s mail and email addresses; educational background, relevant educational, work, or volunteer experiences; any publications; and names and contact information for three references.

The statement of work should be a short (no more than five pages) description of the work that would be undertaken while receiving Garden Club of America (GCA) scholarship support.

The statement of work should: identify the research question and how it relates to current knowledge in the subject area; describe the study methodology; explain the project’s significance to wetlands conservation; and identify the applicant’s career goal(s).

The letter of endorsement should: identify the student; indicate the status of the student in the graduate degree program; and evaluate the student’s ability as an independent researcher. Students must provide the vita and statement of work on or before the deadline date.

All materials should be submitted electronically to the email address provided with the name of the applicant and ‘GCA’ in the subject line. The letter of endorsement must be sent electronically by the recommender directly to CCRM using the email address provided. The name of the student must appear in the subject line, and the letter must be sent by the deadline date.

Missouri State University Inclusive Excellence Science Scholarship 2024

Brief Scholarship Data

Students selected to be Chosen for this scholarship are going to be invited to participate And take back in the multicultural Leadership Scholarship interview program and so are going to be considered additionally for that award and

for the Multicultural Leadership Recognition Award.

Students should be out there to attend a scholarship interview day at Missouri State University in early 2024.

This award may be merged with the academic administrator, Deans’, Hutchens/SGA Centennial Leaders, Missouri State Advantage, Boys/Girls State, and Missouri State Leadership scholarships up to a combined annual value of $3,500 (or $4,500 for the student’s third and fourth years).

General Eligibility Requirements

Must be an incoming freshman. The student must graduate from a high school accredited by a state education agency or a regional accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education (USDE).

Must be lawfully present in the United States.
Must enrol full-time in the year he/she graduates from high school.

Must have declared a major that leads to a Bachelor of Science in Education or Bachelor of Music Education degree to be eligible for this science Scholarship.

Must have demonstrated leadership in multicultural school or community activities or organizations such as band/orchestra; choir/vocal ensembles; community service; drama/debate; multicultural organizations; newspaper/yearbook; student government; and varsity athletics.
Must plan to attend Missouri State University (Springfield campus).
Must rank in the top 50% of his/her class OR have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale as of the end of the sixth semester (end of junior year).
Students with disabilities and/or historically underrepresented populations – African Americans, Asian Americans, Hispanics, and Native Americans – are encouraged to apply.

Scholarship Benefits

The award is $2,000 per year for the student’s first two years and $3,000 per year for the student’s last two years.

Non-Missouri residents will receive a full tuition waiver of non-resident fees.

To renew, the interested students should complete a full 24 credit hours every year and maintain a cumulative GPA average of not less than .75 or higher.

In addition, the beneficiary must keep pursuing a program leading to a teaching certificate.

Students must be admitted to the teacher education program to receive the scholarship for years three and four.

The number of awards offered varies but would be based on Choosing committee recommendations and accessible funding.

Application Guidelines

Applications are accessible online on the Missouri State University (MSU) website.

To be considered for this scholarship, the student must apply for admission to MSU by Dec. 1.

Admissions information is available online at Missouri State Univerity.  In addition to a completed admissions application, the student must submit the following materials: a $35 application fee; official ACT and/or SAT scores (sent directly to MSU by the testing agency); and official transcripts for high school and any completed college credits.

The student must also complete the Multicultural Leadership Scholarship application, which is available on the MSU website in online and paper formats. The student must include a typewritten, double-spaced essay of no more than two pages which describes his/her academic achievement and leadership in diverse organizations, environments, and activities. The scholarship application must be submitted online or by mail by Jan. 30.

Anne S. Chatham Fellowship and Science Scholarship

Brief Scholarship Data

An interesting aspect of this award is that it is intended to allow a student to seek an avenue of research that otherwise might prove closed. The funds may be invested to cover direct costs relating to travel, field studies, or any form of laboratory research. However, the fund provided on the premise of fellowship may not be used to take care of indirect costs or any form of overhead and must not be used to offset the fees for lab space or supplies that are provided by universities.

An important aspect of the award is that it is intended to enable a student to pursue an avenue of research that might otherwise prove closed.

Accordingly, the funds could also be used to take care of direct costs related to travel, field studies, or laboratory research analysis.

However, fellowship funds may not be used to cover indirect costs or overhead and should not be used to pay for lab space or supplies normally provided by universities. The Missouri Botanical Garden has agreed to administer the new fellowship and the selection of candidates for the award will be by a panel of botanists specializing in economic botany and ethnobotany.

$4,500 annually, non-renewable.

Application information is available online from the William L. Brown Center for Plant Genetic Resources website. To apply, an interested student must submit a brief application letter; an abstract of no more than 200 words; a detailed one- to two-page research proposal in 12-point type; a one-page budget; a current curriculum vitae; a letter from a major advisor certifying graduate enrollment for graduate students; and copies of appropriate permits for field work or any studies including animals, research clearances, and permission from governmental agencies should be provided for all foreign research.

Joan K. and Rachel M. Hunt Summer Science Scholarship in Field Botany

Brief Scholarship Data

The purpose of the scholarship is to increase the consciousness and awareness of the importance of the botany aspect of biology to horticulture.

The Science Scholarship does not support research.

The summer tasks could also be pursued differently from the regular course of study to achieve further knowledge and skill and will award credit.

The study should be in any of the states in the U.S.

Preference is given to undergraduates. The scholarship committee will meet in March; applicants will be notified shortly after the committee meets. The Garden Club of America does not discriminate based on race, sex, disability, religion, age, national origin or sexual orientation with regard to the application for any of the club’s Science scholarships.
