What is Padho Pardesh Scheme- Interest Subsidy Scheme- Minority?
This scheme has started to encourage meritorious students belonging to the economically weaker minority community. This will provide the students with an interest subsidy in the form of Indian scholarships to study abroad to pursue higher education abroad.
Who can apply for this Indian scholarship to study abroad?
The following students will be eligible for this subsidy:
The subsidy is available only for students belonging to minority communities (declared under section 2 (c) of the National Commission for Minorities Act, 1992) (Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, and Parsis).- Students applying to pursue their master’s, M.Phil, or Ph.D. degrees from abroad are eligible.
This scheme is available only for education loans taken from the scheduled banks under the education loan scheme of the Indian Bank Association. Total family income in case of an unemployed student or total income of the student in case of an employed student should not exceed INR 6 lakh annually.
An income certificate should be submitted from a competent authority in the State/ Union. Territory preference will be given to female candidates and the subsidy will be given in ratio to the population of minority communities

What is the ESSO-NCESS Junior Research Fellowship?
This Junior Research Fellowship is an award for eligible applicants who want to get a doctoral degree and postdoctoral research in the areas of earth system sciences. Junior Research Fellowship applies to CSIR-UGC NET-JRF qualified candidates and to candidates having DST INSPIRE Fellowship.
